About the Role
At Aye, we’re re-architecting offline commerce by building the identity and payment rails for retail. As a Tech Intern, you’ll join a high-velocity team working at the intersection of payments, loyalty, and identity.We offer three tracks depending on your skills and passion:
- Full Stack Intern – build and ship features that power our retail platform
- Data Science Intern – analyze and model tokenized, identity-linked data to unlock insights
- AI/ML Intern – experiment with applied AI for personalization and multimodal retail data
This isn’t a shadow internship. You’ll be solving problems that directly impact merchants and customers, with real-world code, data, and systems.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Full Stack Intern Track
- Develop features using Node.js and React.
- Build and support microservices deployed on GCP.
- Integrate APIs, services, and workflows across the platform.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize for performance and scale.
- Collaborate on design discussions and code reviews.
Data Science Intern Track
- Work with diverse datasets including payments, loyalty, behavioral patterns, merchant performance, and retail operations.
- Analyze identity-linked, tokenized customer data to uncover trends across merchants and channels.
- Prototype models for segmentation, prediction, recommendation, and behavior analysis that drive personalization.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across different sources and pipelines.
- Visualize and communicate findings clearly to business, product, and engineering teams.
- Explore methods in clustering, recommendation, anomaly detection, and personalization for real retail contexts.
AI/ML Intern Track
- Work on multimodal learning that combines transactional, behavioral, contextual, and tokenized identity signals.
- Prototype personalization and recommendation models tuned for offline retail experiences.
- Design and benchmark ML pipelines in Python with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to deploy models into production.
- Research applied AI techniques (reinforcement learning, embeddings, sequence models) that enhance identity-driven commerce and universal tokens.
What You’ll Need (Qualifications)
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving mindset.
- For Full Stack: experience with Node.js and React; exposure to Python or React Native is a plus.
- For Data Science: proficiency in Python, data wrangling (Pandas, NumPy), and basic ML (scikit-learn).
- For AI/ML: exposure to deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch) is preferred.
- Ability to work fast under pressure and deliver results on tight timelines.
- Good communication skills and eagerness to collaborate in a fast-moving startup environment.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Git, Confluent (Kafka), or Argo.
- Cloud experience (GCP preferred).
- Strong interest in payments, retail identity, or applied AI personalization.
